Genealogy Day

Caledonia County, VT

GENEALOGY DAY has been held in different Vermont Counties each year. Check us out at www.finalfreedom.com/genealogy.

On each and every Aug. 9th, take the time to reach out to someone you love and care about and rekindle that  bond, no matter where you physically are that day.

Talk with family and friends. Visit the cemetery to visit a loved one, call a relative or, perhaps, work on your own genealogy.

Aug. 9 is a Day of Remembrance, also known as Genealogy Day. Ceal Moran, who has strong ties to Vermont, started this movement to bring people together, a way to bring family, friends and colleagues to share memories, stories and pictures on special days of the year.

A lover of genealogy, Ceal believes that passion is not just about capturing information on those who have passed but believes it is also about treasuring the time we can spend with people still here.

She originally started Remembrance Day on Aug. 9, in honor of her uncle, the Rev. Romero Trahan, who passed on that day in 2005.

While that day has started this annual tradition, Ceal suggests you consider your own Remembrance Day on other special occasions, such as 9-11, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day and Thanksgiving... or other holidays or special days that may mean something to you.

On these Remembrance Days, Ceal suggests you spend time with people you love, asking about their lives, maybe contacting a relative or friend you haven't talked with for a while, sort through photos or even make a family tree with elders in your family.

You can't get this time back, so it is important to cherish the special memories you can create with those who are special to you while you can.
